The cable car is an important component of the transport turnaround in Bonn and is accompanied by numerous new measures such as parking space management, new bicycle parking spaces, more frequent public transport services, etc. For this reason, it is optimally linked to local public transport stops and there will be no new park-and-ride spaces (P + R) in the city area. Most passengers will therefore arrive by regional train, light rail, streetcar, bus or bicycle and transfer to the cable car.

Nevertheless, the city is proposing to introduce parking space management in the area around Loki-Schmidt-Platz, for example. This would give priority to local residents. Parking space management should also be implemented in the Post Tower area (Charles-de-Gaulle-Straße). The residential area on Schießbergweg will also be protected from "third-party parking". The planning of these measures will be fleshed out over the next few years to accompany the cable car project.

In principle, the cable car is intended to drive forward the mobility transition in Bonn and is therefore optimally linked to local public transport. The majority of cable car passengers should travel to the stations by train, bus or bicycle, etc. Bicycle parking spaces should therefore be provided at the stations in any case. In general, these so-called bike-and-ride facilities (B + R) are eligible for funding from the Rhineland public transport authority (NVR). The funding rate is currently 90 percent of the eligible costs.

Park-and-ride facilities are also subsidized in accordance with Section 12 of the NRW Public Transport Act (ÖPNVG). However, the city of Bonn wants to avoid creating new parking spaces for car commuters in the middle of the city. For tourist traffic, for example, there is a parking garage on the Museum Mile. The administration could also imagine offers in the Beuel Rheinaue/Telekom area. This will be examined in the further planning stages.

In the  standardized evaluation, only the elimination or reduction of the current booster trips on route 601 to the University Hospital was taken into account. The current service in the regular timetable was not reduced for this purpose. The external experts used the traffic forecast for the year 2030 for the calculations. It includes shifts away from motorized private transport as well as additional traffic due to the planned expansion measures in the Bundesviertel and on the Venusberg. In addition, the 2023 light rail concept, which was adopted a long time ago, was taken as a basis with corresponding frequency increases (DS1912476).

In this light rail concept, the extension of line 63 to Ramersdorf was originally planned. This extension was removed from the calculation as it would have meant unnecessary parallel traffic over the Südbrücke bridge. The cable car with its linking points to local public transport offers significantly greater benefits at this point. The investigations showed that it would be more effective to have line 63 terminate at Heussallee in future, where there is already an unused light rail turning facility.

A route from the DB line to the south bridge is still possible. The current cable car route does not affect such a connection.
