Approaches such as hybrid working, flexible attendance times and additional childcare options as well as job advertisements specifically aimed at female employees are useful examples. Part-time training can also be an adequate means of closing gaps in staffing levels. It opens up new ways for parents or family carers to acquire training and gives the training company the opportunity to meet the growing demand for skilled workers as an alternative to conventional methods.

The Competence Center for Women & Work has been offering its mentoring program for over a decade, with a growing number of participants. Here, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can use mentoring as a personnel development tool and promote young female managers. Experienced managers act as mentors who provide mentees with intensive support in their career development for a year. They offer assistance, sparring and one or two insights into their own practical work. The individual support is supplemented by workshops and networking events.

According to data from the KfW Start-up Monitor, around a third of business founders end their original start-up within the first three years of business. The risk of giving up a young company between the third and fifth year of its existence is correspondingly high, especially for women. The Competence Center has therefore set itself the goal of providing special support to female entrepreneurs between the third and fifth year of their existence with a mentoring program. Networking with experienced, successful female entrepreneurs in particular can help to successfully overcome challenges in difficult times.
