City of Bonn continues Jobwärts program

Despite the withdrawal of the Rhein-Sieg district at the end of 2023, the City of Bonn will continue the "Jobwärts" company mobility management program in 2024 with the funds available to it. The city council has commissioned the city administration to submit a proposal for the further development and future funding of the program in order to meet the requirements of the climate plan.

As Bonn is facing major challenges due to the increasing volume of traffic, especially in commuter traffic, Jobwärts aims to motivate as many people as possible to switch to two-wheelers, buses and trains. Jobwärts offers a concept that includes, for example, a mobility analysis and the implementation of mobility test weeks at employers' premises.

Since its launch in 2019, the number of members in the Jobwärts program has risen continuously. In 2023, 42 employers from Bonn are taking part. Due to scarce resources, both in terms of personnel and funding, some participating companies and authorities will unfortunately drop out in 2024. The program addresses around 60,000 employees at the participating employers.

The last impact analysis showed that the modal split at the participating companies has developed positively in line with the mobility transition. While the share of motorized private transport fell by 5.3 percent, the share of eco-mobility increased by 5.5 percent. Additional journeys were also achieved through the expansion of mobile working and working from home. In addition, the impact measurement revealed a high potential for modal shift, which can be activated by continuing the program with targeted offers.

In 2024, a new focus will be placed on new, more intensive exchange, information and networking formats - also at the request of employers. As a completely new measure, it will be examined in the coming months whether a Jobwärts course with an IHK certificate as a company mobility manager can be offered. The IHK has a comparable project in Aachen, but not yet in Bonn.

With the results of the current impact analysis and further discussions with employers, the administration will further optimize the successful Jobwärts programme in 2024 in order to ensure effective and attractive company mobility management in accordance with the climate plan in the long term.
