The Social Service of the Office for Social Affairs and Housing of the City of Bonn is a broad-based municipal social service that offers holistic help across target groups, problems and offices. The main focus of the Social Service's work is individual case help, which is also carried out on an outreach basis. The legal basis for this is provided in particular by the German Social Code - Part Two and Part Twelve - Integration into Employment (SGB II) and Social Assistance (SGB XII), which provide for the possibility of providing services to overcome these difficulties for people who have special living conditions associated with social difficulties if they are unable to do so on their own. The employees of the Social Services make use of their own professional resources and the services available in the city area with the aim of enabling those seeking help to lead an independent life or to improve and stabilize their living situation through personal advice and support. • Measures to secure housing and, where possible, avert the threat of homelessness

• Socially oriented energy advice in cooperation with the consumer advice center in Bonn
• Debt settlement in cooperation with the Bonn Central Debt Counseling Service
• Assistance within the framework of municipal services of general interest, also outside of transfer payments
• Clarification of entitlements and application for foundation funds
• Performing a pilot function in undefinable problem situations

Social Services offers a wide range of advice and mediation services for 18- to 65-year-olds and their relatives in difficult life situations.

An additional service is provided via the citizens' hotline. Here, both those seeking advice and those involved in Bonn's social network can get quick access to information, advice and possible solutions.
