The uniform system is planned to be in place from August 1, 2025, when the contracts for the three existing, different bike sharing systems in Bonn, the Rhine-Sieg district on the left and right bank of the Rhine have expired. The tender will be carried out by SWBV-GmbH in coordination with the administration of the city of Bonn and the stakeholders in the Rhine-Sieg district (Rhine-Sieg district, RVK, RSVG). The Council opted for alternative three with at least 1,300 bikes from three different options. It provides for

• free bicycle parking in the center of Bonn-Zentrum (Zentrum, Nordstadt, Südstadt, Poppelsdorf, Beuel),
• the addition of physically visible stations in the city center for bike parking (especially at mobile stations and neuralgic points such as the main train station),
• the designation of stations in the outer areas of the city combined with parking zones along public transport lines and other customer-relevant streets
• and the designation of 30 or alternatively 50 dispensing stations with different priorities.

When designating stations and parking zones, the city administration should ensure that a free parking facility is available for the vast majority of Bonn residents within a maximum of 200 meters of their place of residence. Sufficient bicycles must be available in all areas of Bonn. And the administration should examine whether price incentives make sense when users return bicycles in certain areas or at certain stations.
