The mobility transition makes Bonn a better place to live, more climate-friendly and safer. Bonn already has an attractive public transport network. According to a recent study by the Pro-Rail Alliance, no other German city has such a dense network of stops as Bonn. On average, the distance to the nearest stop with an acceptable service is even shorter here than in Berlin or Munich.
However, the city wants to further strengthen local transport, and significantly so: it is currently planning more local transport projects than it has for decades. The first projects such as the bus acceleration program are already underway, while other projects such as the cable car are still several years away from the start of construction. This is because local transport projects are usually major infrastructure projects. As a result, planning and construction usually take several years.
