City of Bonn offers the greatest possible flexibility in the choice of work location

A new service agreement on mobile working came into force at the City of Bonn on June 1, 2023. With this agreement, the city administration offers its employees the greatest possible flexibility in choosing their place of work, provided the specific job allows this. As with the previous regulation on teleworking, the quality of work must not be compromised and data protection regulations must be observed.

Signing the service agreement: Tanja Brinkmann from the Staff Council (front, left) and Mayor Katja Dörner. Behind them (from left): Stephanie Clemens-Krämer, Christoph Busch, Kai Kings, Andreas Leinhaas, Niklas Rott, Christian Dröttboom, Achim Thiebes, Lisa Heuschkel, George Tulbure and Marcel Heller.

Mayor Katja Dörner and Tanja Brinkmann, Chairwoman of the General Staff Council, recently signed the new service agreement. "The new service agreement is another plus for our attractiveness as an employer," says Katja Dörner happily. "With these far-reaching regulations, we are one of the most modern employers in the public sector - we are very proud of that," she continued.

Tanja Brinkmann is also very satisfied with the new service agreement: "The previous option of teleworking has been significantly extended once again by the new regulations. Many colleagues will benefit from this."

The City of Bonn has been offering its employees the opportunity to telework on a pro rata basis for years. The new service agreement gives employees significantly more options: From now on, work can be performed not only at home, but throughout Germany and other countries in other European countries. This opens up the possibility of working from relatives' homes, for example, or on the train on a business trip.

"This allows employees to organize their working day more flexibly. Colleagues who are caring for family members or looking after children in particular benefit from the expanded scope of work arrangements," explains City Director Wolfgang Fuchs.
