"I am delighted that the state is once again supporting us in our numerous projects," says Mayor Katja Dörner. "One of these projects is the redesign of the banks of the Rhine, the first construction phase of which began a few weeks ago. We will use some of the state funds for the second construction phase on the banks of the Rhine, which will follow from the end of 2025/beginning of 2026. The redesigned banks of the Rhine will not only be more attractive, but will also make an important contribution to adapting to the consequences of the climate crisis."

"We are currently in the middle of implementing our twelve individual measures from the Innere Stadt Bonn 2.0 master plan. The funding amount of 8.27 million euros is 80 percent of the total eligible expenditure of 10.3 million euros. The city of Bonn's own contribution amounts to around two million euros," explains city planning officer Helmut Wiesner.

Two projects have already been successfully completed with the realization of the Budafok Park on Budapester Strasse and the redesign of the subway exits on Thomas-Mann-Strasse. In the meantime, the inner city management, the redesign of Bornheimer Strasse and the first construction phase for the redesign of the banks of the Rhine have been started. The Brüdergasse redesign and Windeck-Bunker city entrance redesign/Budapester Strasse unsealing projects are about to begin.

Other planned measures from the Innere Stadt 2.0. master plan include the redesign of Stiftsplatz, the redesign of Kölnstraße, the redesign of Rheingasse and the street in front of the main university building ("Uni trifft City").
