At the center of the new ZOB will be a large central island with a transparent roof on which a photovoltaic system will be installed. A sufficiently large area is planned for waiting passengers. A continuous, lower weather protection is planned along Maximilianstrasse to ensure access for the fire department to the existing buildings. New elevators and escalators will significantly improve the barrier-free connection between the bus station and the train station. Cycling and pedestrian traffic will be given clear routing. The planning also takes into account important aspects such as the organization of delivery traffic, flood protection for the southern underpass and how to deal with the drug and homeless scene in the area of the bus station.

A comprehensive dialog with citizens about the planning is planned for the coming months. The resulting suggestions will be examined during the subsequent planning process and, where possible, incorporated into the further planning, which will be presented to politicians for a decision in due course.

The city administration will keep the public informed.
