At its meeting in December 2023, the Bonn City Council resolved to revise the sports funding guidelines (DS  231868 (opens in a new tab)). The points from this council resolution have been incorporated insofar as they can still be implemented in the current year.

An audit by the Audit Office revealed that a new version of the City of Bonn's sports funding guidelines is necessary. Among other things, the new guidelines incorporate the funding regulations of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the general ancillary provisions for grants for project funding. In future, clubs will have to take these regulations into account when funding construction projects at sports facilities owned by the club. In future, the sports committee will decide on these applications from clubs on the recommendation of the sports administration and the Stadtsportbund Bonn.
