The owners want to reorganize and upgrade the land in the 2.9-hectare, previously mixed-use commercial area between Justus-von-Liebig-Straße, Haberstraße, Fraunhoferstraße and the residential development on Römerweg and build an office campus on it. On the one hand, a new company location is to be created for Bonner Werkstätten Lebenshilfe Bonn gemeinnützige GmbH. Secondly, the majority of the planned office campus will be used by the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). Open spaces in the center of the planned area are to be landscaped and structured by a square-like design and a network of paths, and linked to each other and the surrounding area.
The City of Bonn will conclude urban development contracts with the project developers in which they undertake to build an office campus consisting of five building sections and a social facility within a specified period of time. The buildings are planned with two to six storeys. In addition, the office campus will have a two-storey underground car park, while the social facility will have a single-storey car park.
The council instructed the administration to reduce the technical storeys in the roof structure to the bare minimum during construction, to specify a bright but non-reflective façade design and to allow extensive public access to the green inner area.
In addition, the council asked the administration to draw up a plan for a traffic-calmed area for Haberstraße, between Römerweg and Fraunhoferstraße, and to provide a safe connection of the footpath/cycle path through the area with Bunsenstraße and the "Robert-Kirchhoff-Straße" light rail station with sufficiently dimensioned crossing aids across the wide Justus-von-Liebig-Straße.
