Consumer Information Act

Overview

The Consumer Information Act provides a special legal basis for access to information on the findings of authorities from the monitoring of foodstuffs and to existing information on numerous other goods referred to as "consumer products". It concerns information that may be of importance to consumers with regard to the safety of food, consumer goods, toys, cosmetics and animal feed as well as consumer products within the meaning of the Product Safety Act, for example household appliances.

Free access to consumer information may be restricted or excluded in exceptional cases provided for by law, for example for reasons of data protection.

The request for access to information must be addressed to the Legal and Insurance Department. The Legal Department will decide on the request.

Fees may be charged for granting access to information.
