Regional cooperation has established itself as an important instrument for the city of Bonn to sustainably secure its position as a business location. The city of Bonn and the Rhein-Sieg district as well as many municipalities belonging to the district maintain close cooperation, ranging from education and the development of skilled workers, cooperation in transport planning and land development to environmental protection and joint services. There has been regional cooperation with the Bonn/Rhein-Sieg/Ahrweiler region for more than two decades, spanning two federal states. This not only involves joint trade fair appearances (such as at the Expo Real real estate trade fair), but also long-established working relationships in supporting structural change in cluster approaches (such as the health industry or geoinformation) and in cooperation between business and science ("Bonn Science Region").
