Planning competition for new fire station I in Bonn

As decided by the Bonn City Council on September 26, 2024, the City of Bonn will hold a planning competition for the new construction of Fire and Rescue Station I on Lievelingsweg.

The fire and rescue station was put into operation in 1973. The structural condition is poor in places. The energy requirement is very high. The available space no longer meets today's requirements. The new fire and rescue station is intended to create modern working conditions for employees and, together with the neighboring use of the "Bonnorange AöR" (a planning competition is taking place there at the same time), to upgrade the site in terms of urban development.

The complex, which consists of several buildings, is to form a recognizable unit in future. The building envelope and primary energy consumption should at least meet the Efficiency House Standard 40. In addition, the aim is to use resource-saving building materials and constructions. There are 2,467 square meters of usable space for the administration of the fire and rescue services, 1,349 square meters for the control centre, 4,943 square meters for guard operations and 2,568 square meters for the workshop center (including the central rescue service depot). One of the many challenges will be demolition and new construction during ongoing operations.

The selection of 15 planning offices will take place as part of an EU competition. Five participants will be invited by the city to take part, provided they meet the required application criteria. The meeting of the jury, which will decide on the winners, is scheduled for June 2025.
