From this point onwards, the majority of public parking spaces in the area will be available primarily to residents with corresponding resident parking permits. Craft businesses or social services can also use the parking spaces with a craft parking permit. All others will have to buy a parking ticket in future.
Final preparations and transitional arrangements
In the meantime, all parking machines have been installed, the marking work has been carried out and the corresponding signage has been changed or added. Signs that are not yet valid have been pasted over. By the end of October, as one of the final measures, the stickers will be gradually removed from around 800 signs in Nordstadt. During this transitional phase, the following parking regulations will apply until the start of parking space management on November 4:
- Where stickers are still in place, parking will continue to be restricted to residents' parking permits.
- In streets where stickers have been removed and the parking ticket machines have not yet been switched on, parking with a resident parking permit or parking disk for a maximum of two hours will apply.
- In areas where stickers have been removed and the parking ticket machines are working (e.g. Maxstraße, Weiherstraße, Franzstraße), parking with a resident's parking permit or parking disc is valid for a maximum of 2 hours.
Two resident parking areas
The Nordstadt parking space concept applies to the entire area between Kölnstraße in the north, Oxfordstraße in the east, Thomastraße in the south and Dorotheenstraße and Ellerstraße in the west. Due to the lower parking pressure, the residential area north of Lievelingsweg is excluded from parking space management for the time being. The parking space concept includes two residents' parking areas: In residents' parking area D (west of Hochstadenring/Kaiser-Karl-Ring), parking in public spaces costs two euros for 30 minutes from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Mondays to Saturdays; a day ticket costs 16 euros. In resident parking area I (east of Hochstadenring/Kaiser-Karl-Ring), parking costs one euro per half hour from Monday to Saturday between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m.; a day ticket costs 12 euros.
Resident parking permit
Resident parking permits for the streets in which resident parking will be introduced on November 4 can be applied for online via the service portal (opens in a new tab) from October 14, 2024. There will be a grace period for the first ten weeks after the parking area is opened: During this time, residents will be able to park without a parking permit until their application is processed. To do so, the confirmation email of the application must be visible behind the windshield of the vehicle. The cost of a resident parking permit is 360 euros per year.
