For one week, nine hours a day, the doctors were taught the theoretical and practical skills for their future assignments in lectures, case discussions and practical sessions at the fire and rescue station in Beuel.
After completing a supplementary internship in the emergency medical service, the participants can then take the examination at the North Rhine Medical Association to obtain the "additional qualification in emergency medicine" and then carry out missions in the rescue service on their own responsibility.
Fire department demonstrates realistic exercises
At the final day on the grounds of Fire Station 2 in Beuel, various practical exercises took place again. These were carried out by the professional fire department, volunteer fire department and youth fire department. Among other things, a building fire was simulated in which people were rescued using the turntable ladder. The participants also went through the following simulations: Car accident with human rescue, mass casualty incident and resuscitation in an ambulance.
The North Rhine Medical Association organizes the course in cooperation with the Center for Rescue and Emergency Medicine at Bonn University Hospital, the Waldkrankenhaus (Johanniter Kliniken), the "Arbeitsgemeinschaft Notärzte (AGN-NW)" as well as the fire and rescue services of the city of Bonn.
