By 30 September 2020, the city administration will specify the funding application to be submitted and the financial requirements and make a proposal as to how the coordination of the individual measures should be structured. In addition to the conversion of the Rhine promenade (1st and 2nd construction phase), the conversion and design enhancement of the Stockentor, Alter Zoll and Stadtgarten area (2nd construction phase), the design of the green space and playground at the Windeckbunker, the conversion of Bornheimer Straße (Alter Friedhof to Ellerstraße) and the redesign of Brüdergasse, Stiftsplatz and Kölnstraße (between Bertha-von-Suttner-Platz and Wilhelmsplatz) have been registered for funding.
Further projects are: Rheingasse (urban development linking the university/Martinsplatz with the pedestrian zone), the renovation of the Frankenbad including the forecourt in accordance with the future uses still to be decided and the design of the exits/art at the main railway station (Thomas Mann Strasse).
To prepare and implement the individual measures, one position each will be created in the City Planning Office and the Office for Urban Greenery. In this way, the individual measures are to be implemented in the coming years in a targeted and ongoing manner, following on from the projects already implemented in recent years.
