Public participation in the innovation triangle launched

Quartier.BonnWest GmbH and the city of Bonn held a public meeting to provide information about the construction project at the Alter Schlachthof. Among other things, offices, restaurants, a parking garage and an event hall are to be built on the site in Weststadt. The plans are on public display until May 11.

This is a press release from Stadtwerke Bonn

Bonn City Council had decided to offer an additional information event for citizens for the publication of the "Innovation Triangle" development plan. On Wednesday, April 9, interested parties were able to see on display walls in the canteen of the Schule am Hügel how the 15.5-hectare area between Immenburgstraße, Am Dickobskreuz and the Cologne-Koblenz railway line is to be used in the future. Areas for waste management are also planned there.

In addition to employees of the municipal planning department, the team of the commissioned urban planner, the traffic expert and Quartier.BonnWest (QBW) GmbH, the client for the approximately five-hectare sub-area, were on hand to answer questions. QBW is a project company owned by Stadtwerke Bonn GmbH as the majority shareholder and Bauprojekt ehem. Güterbahnhof Bonn GmbH Co. KG.

Innovative and sustainable district

"Our aim is to develop an innovative quarter from the wasteland, which also has sustainable approaches, unseals public spaces and has added value for the district," said Bernd Nottbeck, Managing Director of Quartier.BonnWest GmbH. The 50-metre-high "Lange Karl" with 10,000 square meters of office space will act as a "beacon" in the new district. The design by architects Winking Froh uses wood, glass, recycled bricks, photovoltaics and greenery on the façade.

Nottbeck was particularly pleased about the presence of young cultural professionals at the information day. "The event hall is a matter close to our hearts, but after the withdrawal of the first prospective tenant, we have not yet found an alternative. But we're staying on the ball here," emphasized the QBW boss.
