Beuel may be the birthplace of Weiberfastnacht, the home of the "Wäscherinnen" and the carnival is dominated by the ladies' committees, but the gentlemen of creation also play their part in preserving Beuel's customs.

The shooting clubs enrich Beuel's annual calendar with their colorful, cheerful shooting festivals. And what would the dance into May be without the bachelor clubs, who elect their May Queen and provide the colorful maypoles for the women they have bought at auction? The annual May Day singing at Beuel Town Hall and the May Ball are also an important part of Beuel's annual calendar.

But these clubs are also involved in social activities in their districts and are important pillars of society.

Probably the best-known and largest funfair in Beuel is the  Pützchens Markt, which attracts around one million visitors over five days in September.

However, there are also smaller fairs in the other districts of Beuel throughout the year, which are organized by the parishes or clubs. The most important of these include

• the Easter fair on the Rhine promenade
• the Peter and Paul fair at the Josefkirche church
• the Galluskirmes in Küdinghoven
• the Oberkassel fair.

11.11. is not only a special day for carnival fans, it is also the day of St. Martin, in whose honour children parade through the night every year with homemade lanterns and torches to the big St. Martin's bonfire.

Every year in October, St. Martin's torches can be admired in the foyer of Beuel town hall during opening hours. Girls and boys from Beuel's kindergartens and elementary school then exhibit their creative work and decorate the town hall foyer.

The cradle of Weiberfastnacht is in Beuel. The first ladies' committee in Beuel was founded in 1824. It emerged from a women's movement. The washerwomen of Beuel fought against the patriarchy, the dominance of men and the associated exploitation of women. The custom of the washerwomen getting together once a year - on the Thursday before carnival - to rebel against their husbands was born.
