The Weiers Wiesen area was designated as a nature reserve on June 16, 2004 via the Ennert landscape plan. The nature reserve is located in the middle of a residential area in the Holzlar district. The total area is around 3.3 hectares, making it the smallest nature reserve in Bonn.
The remaining areas of former extensive wet meadows are particularly worthy of protection. These areas are now maintained by the Biological Station of the City of Bonn, so that the conditions for the development of species-rich meadows are in place. In addition to rare plant species, the area provides a habitat for numerous animal species, such as insects.
