The KWVS was a three-year technical discussion and dialogue process that sensitizes and supports the municipalities, districts and specialist planning bodies in the Cologne/Bonn region in dealing preventively with the consequences of climate change.

To this end, the expected climate change and the vulnerability of the region were first examined. These basic results were then discussed with the relevant institutions in regional sub-areas and solutions were developed. As a result, the KWVS developed integrated technical and methodological argumentation and decision-making aids for the municipalities, districts and specialist planning bodies in the Cologne/Bonn region in order to integrate them into planning development concepts at different scales and to derive and implement concrete projects.
