Physical violence
When violence is used against the body of another person in order to harm, injure or kill them, we speak of physical violence. This also includes destroying objects or other people's property (vandalism).
For example: hitting, kicking, pinching, punching, pushing
Mental (psychological) violence
This form of violence includes verbal abuse, threats, embarrassment, blackmail and insults. Mental violence also includes bullying and stalking.
For example: teasing, insulting, humiliating, blackmailing
Sexualized violence
In addition to sexual abuse (with or without physical contact), this form of violence also includes sexual harassment and insults.
Discrimination
When people are disadvantaged or excluded because of their age, gender, sexual orientation, social background, geographical origin, disability or religion or belief, we speak of discrimination or systematic exclusion.
Neglect
Neglect can be physical (e.g. little food, no suitable clothing for all weathers) as well as mental/emotional (e.g. no appreciation, love or security). Parents or guardians do not take care of what their child needs.
Bullying
When a person is repeatedly hurt, ostracized, constantly teased, maligned, hit or kicked, this is known as bullying.
For example: excluding, ignoring, ignoring, ostracizing, derogatory gestures
Cyber violence
When embarrassing or offensive videos, pictures or texts of a person are sent and distributed on the internet, in apps or via a cell phone, this is cyberbullying. This also includes hurting other people through comments (anonymous or not).
Cyber violence also includes sending pornographic films or images to minors and blackmail on the internet.
Domestic violence
Domestic violence refers to violence between people who live together as a family or in a relationship. It can take the form of physical, sexualized and psychological violence. Domestic violence also occurs when children experience violent interaction between their parents.
Radicalization
Radicalization is a process in which a person adopts extreme political, social or religious attitudes and beliefs and strives for a fundamental change in society. These attitudes are against democracy.
