City of Bonn

Integration Council

In November 2004, an Integration Council was elected for the first time to replace the Foreigners' Advisory Council. Two thirds of the body consists of immigrant representatives and one third of elected council members and can deal with all matters concerning the City of Bonn.

The Integration Council works on a parliamentary basis and has the following tasks and objectives:

  • Representing migrants vis-à-vis politicians, administration and the public
  • Promoting the equal coexistence of Germans and migrants
  • Advice (for example on issues relating to immigration law)
  • Improving coexistence within urban society (schools and education, labor market, housing situation, etc.)
  • Exchange with other integration councils and cooperation with the NRW State Integration Council.
