Welcome to www.bonn.de, the website of Bonn City Council. In this sign language video, we show you what information is available on our website and how and where you can find it. We explain our homepage as well as the structure and content of the main menu.

Our website is mobile-compatible and technically enables barrier-free access to content. (The following description applies to both the desktop view and the mobile view on a cell phone).

Depending on the current situation, the topics and structure of the homepage may vary and therefore differ slightly from this description.

Home page

www.bonn.de is divided into three sections: "Experience Bonn", "Offer services" and "Discover topics". You will find the most important topics on our homepage. By clicking on the logo "Freude. Joy. Joie. Bonn." logo in the top left-hand corner will take you back to the home page. At the top right you will find the menu, which will be explained in more detail later.

In the header area of the start page, current or permanently interesting topics are linked in the start screen, such as Beethoven, booking appointments at the Citizens Service Center or online services. Just below this, you can enter a search term in the search box. If you can't find anything, you can let us know using the "I can't find anything!" form that is displayed after your unsuccessful search.

Directly below the search slot you will find four buttons that will take you to information about the city administration from A to Z, the Events Calendar and the city map. You will then find an overview of news from Bonn in the "News from Bonn" section. Clicking on the text lines will take you to the respective news item and, in the last place, to the overview of all municipal press releases.

Further useful topics follow - depending on the occasion or season. Below this you will find the section "Outlook for the day": This shows you various current events from the calendar. The next section, "Quick clicks", contains frequently used pages with images. For example, you will find the defect report, information on the current traffic situation, bus and rail, work at the city of Bonn and much more.

Like every www.bonn.de website, the homepage is rounded off by a black footer with basic information and links, including to our microsites, newsletters, accessibility, information in plain language, contact, data protection, sitemap and legal notice. There are also links to the city's social media channels on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.

We will now explain the menu of www.bonn.de and what content, pages and topics are hidden behind the individual headings.

You will find the menu at the top right of the home page. When you open it, you can use the icons at the top to change the language, create and log in to a web account or call up the city map. You can also use the magnifying glass symbol to open the search function at any time. The main categories are displayed immediately below: "Experience Bonn", "Offer services" and "Discover topics".

What is behind each of these? If you click on one of these menu items, you can see the sub-items and topics. If you click on these, you will be shown their sub-pages. If you click on the highest point in the menu structure, you will be taken to the corresponding overview page, where all sub-topics are linked with images in addition to the latest news from the topic area. You can navigate through the entire menu structure in this way - or alternatively use the search function at the top right of the page to find the information you are looking for.

Now a few explanations on the content of the main sections of www.bonn.de.

"Experience Bonn"

In the menu item "Experience Bonn" you will find a wide range of information about the cultural, leisure and tourism offerings of the City of Bonn. Topics include: Beethoven, who was born in Bonn, events, initiatives and cultural institutions. Whether theater, opera, museums or top-class exhibitions - let yourself be surprised.

It also covers the topics of travel, accommodation, active and on the move as well as going out, experiencing, visiting, discovering, art and culture. You will find Bonn-Information, everything you need to know about tourism, excursions, sports and swimming pools in Bonn, parks, clubs, carnival, events such as Pützchens Markt or Rhein in Flammen, markets and shopping in Bonn, sights, city tours, the city districts as well as art, music and culture.

"Offering service"

The second section of our main menu "Offer services" contains the services of the city administration, information on city policy, the council and committees, the Mayor of Bonn, local law, facts and figures, including the City of Bonn's budget, as well as everything to do with the city as an employer, job vacancies and information on accessibility in the city. You can also find information on elections, citizen dialogs and citizen participation as well as contact details for the city administration. The City Administration A to Z section, including the organizational structure, descriptions of the individual offices and their services and forms, as well as information on accessibility, is also integrated there.

Use this section if you want to apply for your ID card or a resident parking permit, for example. Among other things, you will be shown which documents you need for your particular request and what costs may be incurred. Many services can also be completed digitally using online forms. If you have any questions about the services provided by the city administration, you are welcome to contact us via the public authority number 115, which offers a sign language telephone.

"Discover topics"

The last item at the bottom of the main menu is called "Discover topics". It contains a wide range of information on education, learning, family, partnership, health, integration, migration, planning and building, safety and order, environment and nature, transport, mobility, business, science, social affairs and society. Here you will also find topics on the international city and everything to do with the United Nations, as Bonn is home to 25 UN institutions. If you would like to get involved in voluntary work, are interested in climate protection or are looking for the city's senior centers or schools, you will find what you are looking for here. You will also find information on the topics of marriage, childcare, fire department, waste, emergency services and housing, as well as the municipal archive, music school, Adult Education Center and municipal library.

We also present important projects, topics and services offered by the city administration and provide information about Bonn as a business and science location, for example.

There are lots of interesting, important and useful things to discover and learn at www.bonn.de. As this video only provides an overview of how to use the site, the basic structure of the content and the navigation, it is best to click through the pages yourself.
