Parking space management started in Nordstadt

In order to make the public parking spaces in Nordstadt available primarily to residents, they have been managed since Monday, November 4, 2024. As announced, the city has put around 70 parking ticket machines into operation.

From now on, the public parking spaces in Nordstadt will be managed. Residents, tradesmen and social services can park there with the appropriate permits. All others must purchase a parking ticket.

Residents can use the public parking spaces with the appropriate resident parking permits. Craft businesses or social services can also park there with special parking permits. In future, everyone else will have to buy a parking ticket. The parking tickets can be paid for in cash or with one of the common mobile parking apps.

This should reduce parking pressure for residents and make the residential areas quieter, safer and more attractive by reducing traffic searching for parking. The corresponding signage has been installed, but the markings still need to be adjusted in some places.

The city council asks all road users to observe the new regulations. The traffic field service will monitor compliance with the new parking rules from the outset and will initially issue so-called "zero-euro parking tickets". Regular warnings will be issued from November 18, 2024. In doing so, the city is taking into account the fact that the new regulations first need to settle in.

In addition, the city administration would like to point out that residents of Nordstadt can park without a parking permit for the first ten weeks until their application for a resident parking permit has been processed. To do this, the confirmation email of the application must be visible behind the windshield of the vehicle. The cost of a resident parking permit is 360 euros per year.

Two resident parking areas

The Nordstadt parking concept applies to the entire area between Kölnstraße in the north, Oxfordstraße in the east, Thomastraße in the south and Dorotheenstraße and Ellerstraße in the west. Due to the lower parking pressure, the residential area north of Lievelingsweg is exempt from parking space management for the time being.

The parking space concept includes two residents' parking areas: In residents' parking area D (west of Hochstadenring/Kaiser-Karl-Ring), parking in public spaces costs two euros for 30 minutes from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Mondays to Saturdays; a day ticket costs 16 euros. In resident parking area I (east of Hochstadenring/Kaiser-Karl-Ring), parking costs one euro per half hour from Monday to Saturday between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m.; a day ticket costs 12 euros.
