Landscape plans are the nature conservation planning in the outer area of a municipality, which, for example, defines nature conservation and landscape protection areas. They are adopted as municipal statutes and are legally binding.
There are currently three landscape plans in Bonn: Ennert, Kottenforst, Siegmündung - and the banks of the Rhine as another landscape conservation area. All of them have different specifications and in some cases no longer comply with current legal requirements. Numerous plan contents are no longer up to date, have long since been implemented or no longer correspond to Bonn's current objectives.
The city council has therefore decided to update the plans and merge the four different plans into one overall landscape plan. This should make the plans and applicable rules clearer and easier for everyone to understand. The city wants to integrate current informal concepts for Bonn's nature and biodiversity into the legally binding landscape plan, for example open space planning, the Climate Plan 2035 and the biodiversity strategy.
The creation of a landscape plan is preceded by an extensive process that will take around five years. The public will be involved in several phases.
