District election committee decides on direct candidates for the Bundestag election

On Friday, January 24, 2025, the district election committee, chaired by city director and district election manager Wolfgang Fuchs, decided which candidates are eligible to run for the Bonn direct mandate in the Bundestag election on February 23, 2025.

The following direct candidates were admitted (in the order in which the applications were received): Dr. Hendrik Streeck (CDU), Robert Viebahn (Freie Wähler), Wolfgang Truckenbrodt (AfD), Thomas Peter (Volt), Anna Heimann (FDP), Jessica Rosenthal (SPD), Jürgen Repschläger (DIE LINKE), Katrin Uhlig (Grüne) and Fosi Audi (PdF).

The candidates Dirk Gintzel (dieBasis) and Felix Kopinski (Piraten) were not admitted because the parties did not obtain the required minimum of 200 supporting signatures. The following parties were exempt from the requirement to submit supporting signatures: CDU, Freie Wähler, AfD, FDP, SPD, Die Linke and Grüne. Applicants from Volt and PdF were able to submit the required supporting signatures.

Admission is subject to the condition that the state lists of the submitted parties are also approved by the State Election Committee, which will also meet on January 24, 2025.
