Frankenbad can be renovated - feasibility study commissioned

The Frankenbad can be renovated from a structural point of view. This was the result of the investigations carried out by the city in 2024. These included a structural inspection and building material and concrete tests, including laboratory tests. In addition, pollutant reports, documentation of the building and assessment of the existing structure, a ground pipe inspection and 3D images of the building were carried out.

On this basis, the municipal building management prepared the next steps and put out a feasibility study to tender in December 2024. The study is to examine the various requirements (implementation of monument protection, resolutions on climate neutrality, requirements for a swimming pool). Possible conflicts between the requirements are to be identified, evaluated and refurbishment solutions, including financial assessment, are to be identified. Two to three variants are to be developed for this purpose.

The results of the feasibility study are expected in the second half of 2025. The political bodies will then be involved.

In addition, the creation of temporary accessibility in the Frankenbad is currently in its final stages. This includes the construction of a wheelchair-accessible ramp from the forecourt to the main entrance, a lift to reach the changing area from the entrance foyer and the upgrading of several doors with an electric opening function.
