On all carnival days - Weiberfastnacht up to and including Rose Monday - the night service will be extended in future. In addition, the vacation timetable will apply on weekdays on Rose Monday. This means that public transport connections can be offered throughout the day and night on all carnival days to ensure a round-the-clock connection to Deutsche Bahn trains, among other things.
In addition, a binding regulation will be created for days on which Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve fall on a Sunday - as is the case this year. In these cases, the Sunday timetable and, from 8.30 p.m., the extended night service will apply as before public holidays. On all other days of the week, the Saturday timetable will apply on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
"I welcome the changes that have been decided, including on Carnival days, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. We are thus creating a uniform service with the Rhein-Sieg district. On carnival days, we will offer public transport connections throughout the day and night, for example to ensure a round-the-clock connection to Deutsche Bahn trains," explains Mayor Katja Dörner.
Due to the increased demand on school days, an additional journey will be set up on line 61/65 at around 12:36 from Kopenhagener Straße to Bonn main station. The journey will previously be routed via line 65 to Auerberg.
The service on bus route 634 will be extended by two additional pairs of journeys from Monday to Friday mornings, and a regular 30-minute service will be established between around 5.30 am and around 7.30 pm. This will strengthen the UN Campus-Uniklinikum Bonn (UKB) connection and at the same time relieve the main line towards Venusberg 601. In the Marie-Kahle-Allee/Baunscheidtstraße area, a new "Oscar-Romero-Allee" stop will be set up to provide access to the workplaces there. Line 634 is to be extended to Röttgen in order to meet the increased demand there due to the higher population and to create a direct connection between Röttgen (or Meckenheim with a change in Röttgen) and the UKB or the Bundesviertel.
In addition, various adjustments were decided:
- On Saturdays, the first trip on line 611 will not depart from Pappelweg at 5.20 a.m. as before, but from Bad Godesberg Bf/Rheinallee. Lines N10 and 613 will depart from Pappelweg at 5.05 a.m. and 5.35 a.m. respectively, resulting in a 15-minute interval and thus an excess of services.
- On Sundays, there is no 5.15 a.m. service on route 613 between Pappelweg and Bad Godesberg Bf/Rheinallee. A bus on route N10 currently departs from Pappelweg at 5.05 a.m., resulting in an oversupply due to the short frequency.
- On Sundays, route 610 will not depart from Giselherstraße at 5.16 a.m. as before, but only from Bad Godesberg Bf./Rheinallee. Currently, a bus on route N7 leaves Oberaustraße at 5.03 a.m. and runs parallel to the 610 to Rheinallee.
- On Saturdays, the first journey on route 62 at 4.44 a.m. in the direction of Dottendorf on the Bonn Hbf-Dottendorf-Bonn Hbf section will be canceled. It will run as a short trip with a different departure time from Beuel Bf. to Bonn Hbf. and will start there at 5.27 a.m. in the direction of Oberkassel Süd. There are hardly any passengers on route 62 towards Dottendorf at this time, and the return journey is a parallel service to the night bus N3, which serves the identical route just two minutes earlier.
- On Sundays, the first trip of line 62 on the Bonn Hbf-Dottendorf-Bonn Hbf section is canceled. The first trip from Bonn Hbf. in the direction of Oberkassel Süd will depart at around 5.27 am. The 5.15 a.m. journey from Quirinusplatz will run parallel to the N3 night bus.
- On Saturdays, the 5:47 a.m. journey on route 61 from the main station will be reassigned to route 65.
Timetable change in December 2024
In addition, the council has already decided on changes for the timetable change in December 2024.
- Articulated buses with greater passenger capacity will gradually run on bus route 605 and the regular service will end at Bernhardkirche. Stadtwerke Bonn has been commissioned to procure the necessary electric articulated buses.
- Line 630 will no longer serve the Buschdorf district and will terminate at Agnetendorfer Straße.
- Line 631 will take over the route of line 630 in the Buschdorf district and the route of line 605 in Graurheindorf, ending at the Mondorfer Fähre terminus.
- On Sundays, there are hourly short trips on line 631 between Agnetendorfer Straße and Mondorfer Fähre, which will increase the frequency of line 631 in this area to every 30 minutes.
- Line 630 is to be gradually converted to operation with articulated electric buses. On the route of line 630, the Röttgen Straße/Gudenauer Weg/Buchholzstraße junction needs to be rebuilt; the administration will draw up proposals.
