Where exactly is a business parking lot in Bonn and is it currently occupied or free? In future, this information will be provided by electronic sensors with which the city of Bonn is having the current total of nine business parking spaces in the city equipped. With the help of an app, craft businesses, social care services and delivery traffic will then be able to access the information. In this way, the city aims to further simplify the search for parking spaces for commercial traffic.
During the day (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.), only vehicles with craftsmen's parking permits or exemptions for social services as well as parcel deliverers and delivery traffic are allowed to park in the parking spaces marked as commercial zones. The city's aim is to make it easier for Bonn's commercial traffic to find a parking space and thus make their daily work easier in places where regular parking spaces can often only be found after a lengthy search.
New app makes it easier to find a parking space
With the app, which it will offer to businesses, the city wants to make business parking spaces even more attractive, as they can be used to find free parking spaces and drive directly to them. Although it is not possible to reserve a parking space in advance in public traffic areas, this could avoid a lengthy search.
The new electronic sensors not only provide information on whether a parking space is currently free, but also provide the city of Bonn with valuable data on the duration and frequency of occupancy of commercial parking spaces. The information obtained is used to assess whether the economic zones, which were initially set up for testing, are proving their worth in practice. A survey of the users of the parking spaces will also form part of the evaluation.
Economic zones have been set up at the following locations in Bonn:
- Hausdorffstraße 145-151, 234 and at the parish church
- Pützstraße 8
- Bismarckstraße 19
- Ermekeilstraße 36
- Lessingstrasse 51
- Bonner Talweg in the area of the IHK and Telekom
