The first step is to examine the concrete in the basement of the pool. In the next step, the experts will carry out in-depth investigations with core drillings in all pools and pool sections of the indoor pool. The results of these investigations are essential in order to obtain as comprehensive a picture as possible of the necessary renovation measures. According to current planning, these will be available at the beginning of September and will form the basis for further planning.
The Hardtbergbad will then enter the refurbishment phase at the beginning of 2025 and reopen in 2027 once the refurbishment and new construction have been completed. The schools and swimming clubs will be informed by the city and allocated to other swimming pools where possible.
The refurbishment of the combined pool includes the refurbishment of the indoor pool plus a new building and the refurbishment of the pool heads in the outdoor pool. Once the project is complete, the Hardtbergbad will offer schools, clubs and other bathers an additional teaching pool, a family area with a course and children's pool and a catering area.
The expected costs for the entire project are currently estimated at 51.5 million euros. The City of Bonn will receive six million euros from the federal government's "Renovation of municipal facilities in the areas of sport, youth and culture" funding program for the energy-efficient and barrier-free renovation.
