Loss/recovery
If a German ID card or passport is lost, stolen or recovered, a report of loss or recovery must be submitted.

Online notification of loss

Note on the identity card:
The electronic identity function (eID) of the ID card is blocked when the notification of loss is processed; alternatively, you can have the eID blocked yourself immediately by calling the 116 116 blocking hotline.

Re-application
