The city of Bonn carries out mobile speed checks in the city area on a regular basis. Please note the following:

• According to the legal requirements, the city has limited measuring authority. This means that speed checks may not be carried out at any point in the city area, but only at so-called danger spots. Danger spots are, on the one hand, accident blackspots defined by the accident commission and, on the other hand, sections of road where an increased risk of accidents must be assumed. The latter can be considered in particular
  1. at or in the immediate vicinity of places and routes that are frequented by vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists as well as particularly vulnerable people such as children, people in need of assistance and the elderly,
  2. in the immediate vicinity of roadworks and similar road construction bottlenecks, or
  3. if an above-average number of speeding violations are detected.
• The individual measuring points are set up in coordination with the municipal road traffic authority and the police.
• The city carries out mobile speed checks from Monday to Saturday from 6.30 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. (in justified individual cases also beyond this time).
• Several speed enforcement vehicles are deployed at the same time. There are currently three mobile enforcement vehicles and five semi-stationary units on trailers. All measuring systems are calibrated and approved by the Federal Physical-Technical Institute.
• In addition, there are mobile speed checks carried out by the responsible police authorities in the city area and on freeways using their own measuring methods. The police have unrestricted measuring powers that go beyond those of the city. The police can therefore also measure at other locations that are not included in the list of municipal measuring points published here.

Due to the legal basis described for the mobile measuring points, the city also operates stationary speed monitoring systems at the following measuring points:

• Bonn-Bad-Godesberg road tunnel (B 9)
  2 systems per direction of travel
• Konrad-Adenauer-Damm
  1 system in the direction of Derletalstraße
• Ludwig-Erhard-Allee (at Herbert-Wehner-Platz) 1 system per direction of travel
• Mainzer Straße (B 9/bridge over the railroad between Bonn-Bad Godesberg and Bonn-Mehlem)
  1 installation per direction of travel
• Reichsstraße (L 261/pedestrian crossing at Ückesdorf)
  1 facility per direction of travel
