- Catalpa bignonioides
- North America
Genus
Catalpa - The name goes back to North American natives, whose tribal symbol was the trumpet tree. The word bignonioides means that this trumpet tree is similar to the genus Bignonia, the cross vine. Catalpa bignonioides is the best-known representative of the trumpet tree genus in Europe.
A deciduous, medium-sized, fast-growing tree with a broad, rounded crown, spreading side branches, often reaching down to the ground, an exotic-looking, special design tree in parks and gardens.
The final height can be 10 to 15 meters high and six to ten meters wide.
