MUTABOR

MUTABOR - long title: "Microscale investigation and activation of the technical and planning adaptation capacity of the city of Bonn to reduce heat stress" - builds on the results of the ZURES project and, in addition to the local priorities for action identified there (based on the climate analysis and the planning information map), shows the actual options for action.

The project team determined the local adaptation capacities of the city of Bonn in the area of heat. The adaptation potential was then examined in various ambitious scenarios in a city-wide micro-scale modeling of the cooling effect and compared with regard to the effects of the different scenarios. With MUTABOR, quantifiable heat adaptation targets could be defined for Bonn for the first time, which, among other things, were incorporated as a supplement to the updated planning information map on heat and contributed to the concretization of planning recommendations.

The MUTABOR project (funding code 67DAS180A) was funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) as part of the "German Adaptation Strategy - Municipal Lighthouse Projects" with a term from February 1, 2021 to July 31, 2023. MUTABOR was carried out under the leadership of the City of Bonn (Office for the Environment and Urban Greenery) and with the participation of the project partners GEO-NET Umweltconsulting and berchtoldkrass space & options. In addition, scientific support for the project was provided by the "Digitalization, Visualization and Monitoring in Spatial Planning" department of the Technical University of Kaiserslautern as part of a non-material collaboration.
