This is a press release from Stadtwerke Bonn
The first shell for the bicycle parking system has barely been erected at Beuel station when the next one is already underway at Konrad-Adenauer-Platz. On Tuesday, November 14, the construction modules for the second bicycle parking system will be delivered to Konrad-Adenauer-Platz in Beuel. Specialists from Switzerland will bring them into position. Short-term closures are necessary for the week-long work.
Next week, a long-awaited freight will arrive in Beuel in the form of the second bicycle parking garage. On an area between St. Augustiner-Straße and Rathausstraße, SWB Bus und Bahn is erecting another shell of the bicycle parking system together with the developer of the special parking garages. The innovation, which consists of various lightweight modules, comes from the Swiss company V-Locker AG. Within each tower module, the bicycle lockers move vertically in a paternoster lift system.
Tower modules are delivered by crane
A crane and space are needed to set up the complex system. The work will begin on Tuesday, November 14, from 7 am and is expected to end on Sunday, November 19, around 5 pm. The mobile crane will be set up in a parking lot on St.-Augustiner-Straße so that it does not protrude into the road. Pedestrians will have to take a signposted detour for the duration.
The individual tower modules will be delivered to Rathausstraße by truck. The road will be closed during the work. The crane work itself will last until Friday, November 17. The assembly work, for which the mobile crane is not required, will follow on November 18 and 19.
The project is the first of its kind in this form to date. Four V-Locker bicycle parking systems have not yet been planned, manufactured and installed at the same time. For this reason, the work could only be scheduled at short notice. Many experts are involved in the project. All four systems (Am Beueler Bahnhof, Konrad-Adenauer-Platz, Stiftsplatz and Am Frankenbad) should be in place by the end of the year. The official opening of the bicycle parking garage at Beuel train station is planned for mid-December.
