This is a press release from Stadtwerke Bonn:
Centrally located, video-monitored and fully fenced, the bicycle parking facility is located in BCP's City Hall garage. The two-storey structure provides space-saving parking for over 60 bikes. Three cargo bikes can also be easily stored there. The facility is easily accessible via a ramp at the entrance and is open around the clock all year round.
"We are delighted to be able to offer another Bike & Ride in an attractive location. Especially against the backdrop of the mobility transition, it is important to consider cyclists and public transport users," says Tamara Conradi, Managing Director of Bonn City Parkraum. "With the new facility, we are not only creating a practical link to the city center and local transport, but also incentives to use the bicycle. The new facility will also benefit people who work or live nearby and need a secure parking space for their bike on a long-term or regular basis."
BCP's first Bike & Ride was created in the multi-storey parking lot at the main station in 2020 and more will follow. "Together with BCP, the city planning office is currently looking for suitable locations for more secure bicycle parking facilities in the city in order to make the service accessible to as many people as possible. Bicycle parking facilities are an important building block with which we can make it easier for Bonn residents to switch to the so-called environmental alliance of public transport, cycling and walking," explains Petra Denny, Head of the Urban Planning Office.
Inexpensive, flexible and practical
Interested parties can either book a parking space for a day or rent it on a monthly basis. The daily rate is one euro per bike. A permanent parking space per bike costs 15 euros per month.
If you opt for the former, you can contact the BCP control center via the call button on the pay machine at the parking lot cash desk and book a daily parking space if available. Further information on the daily offer can be found at the machine. This means that even those who make last-minute decisions can find a safe and affordable parking space.
Commuters and residents have the longer-term option of a permanent parking space. This can be requested and booked by e-mail from the customer center (www.fahrrad-parken.com). The entire duration can be predetermined or a contract can be drawn up without notice, which can be terminated four weeks before the end of each month. On signing the contract, long-term parkers receive an access chip that can be used to open the automatic sliding door.
Additional lockers for bags, shopping and similar items will be installed at the beginning of 2024. This service can be used independently of the parking spaces.
The total costs amount to around 68,000 euros, 50% of which is being financed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection.
