Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Gymnasium
The EMA will have a three-storey, barrier-free new building with an assembly hall and canteen on the first floor and learning areas for 15 classes on the two upper floors. The new multifunctional assembly hall will form the "heart" of the new building. It will have seating for around 850 people arranged on a level surface. The canteen with a serving kitchen, a dining area with around 118 seats and a small study kitchen can also be used for events in the assembly hall.
With the planned building envelope and district heating supply, the new complex will at least meet the requirements for an efficiency building 40. The new building will be equipped with an air conditioning system with heat recovery for controlled ventilation. The flat roof will be greened and fitted with a photovoltaic system. The total cost of the construction measures, including the dismantling of the assembly hall and existing canteen as well as the conversions in the existing building, amounts to just under 50 million euros. The total costs include a risk premium of 13.7 percent and a construction cost increase of six percent per year.

The FEG will have a new building for a total of 19 new classrooms with ancillary areas and a canteen with foyer. The outdated prefabricated building (Building B) will be demolished and a barrier-free, three-storey building will be built in the north-east of the school grounds parallel to Karl-Marx-Straße. While one half of the building will house the higher grades, the other half will house the classrooms for grades 5-7. The canteen with 100 seats and kitchen will also be located there.
The new complex will have passive house components for the building envelope and the ventilation system. This means that it will at least meet the requirements for an efficiency building 40. The building will be heated by district heating with a very good primary energy factor. The flat roof will have a combination of green roof and photovoltaic system.
The total cost of the project is around 21 million euros. This amount includes a risk premium of twelve percent and a construction cost increase of six percent per year.
