Next steps decided for planned expansion of the Ennertbad

At its meeting on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, the Beuel district council confirmed the commission to the administration to build a combined swimming pool on the site of the Ennertbad. Based on the supplemented feasibility study, the administration will now commission the necessary investigations as part of the basic investigation.

The study had shown that an extension to the Ennertbad was possible. The administration presented the further results in  November 2024 (opens in a new tab). In addition, the administration will examine whether it is permissible to award the contract to a total contractor (TU), which would provide all services from a single source, instead of awarding the contract for architectural and engineering services individually.

For a new combined pool, the four outdoor pools and the outdoor facilities with the pool surrounds, sunbathing lawns and play areas are to be retained. The three existing buildings belonging to the outdoor pool are to be demolished. These include the entrance area, the staff rooms, the kiosk, the changing rooms and the sanitary facilities. The technical buildings and the technical cellar in the basement, where the water technology for the outdoor pool is housed, can continue to be used and are to be  November 2024 (opens in a new tab). The new building will include a sports pool with five 25-metre lanes, a teaching pool and a separate children's pool with play and seating areas and its own baby changing room.
