In the bus sector, accessibility is achieved through the use of low-floor buses and the construction of bus stops with kerbs at least 18 centimetres high as well as guiding indicators. According to the basic resolution passed by the main committee in 1995, all bus stops in the city are to be made barrier-free according to a priority order to be determined. There are currently 1073 bus stops in Bonn, of which 477 have been upgraded.
A comparison between the four city districts shows that the Bad Godesberg district has the fewest barrier-free bus stops. For this reason, more stops in Bad Godesberg are to be considered in the first year of expansion in order to create a balance between the districts. The focus of the expansion is generally on stops where people with reduced mobility are more likely to board or alight, for example near retirement homes, day care centers, senior housing projects, hospitals and day care centers. Passenger numbers were also taken into account.
Bus routes 606 and 607
Another aim is to increase the reliability and punctuality of bus services. In order to improve both on routes 606 and 607, various measures are being implemented on the routes. This involves, for example, creating opportunities for buses coming towards each other to meet or changing right-of-way regulations at intersections in favor of bus traffic.
