The vacation programs offered by open all-day schools (OGS) are an important childcare option for families. To ensure that an attractive vacation program can continue to be offered there, the parents' contribution to the costs incurred must be adjusted. The Council now agrees that up to six euros (previously four euros) can be charged per day of childcare by the OGS providers.
After this amount has remained unchanged for over eight years, the OGS steering group received feedback from the conferences of the OGS pedagogical directors that it is no longer possible to design an attractive vacation program with four euros per day due to the cost increases in all areas of life in the meantime. The OGS steering group, which is made up of an equal number of representatives from parents, schools, providers and the city administration, has therefore unanimously recommended an adjustment to the amount of the possible parental contribution.
In consultation with the OGS providers, six euros per day of vacation care is a realistic amount in order to keep the cost increases for parents within limits on the one hand and to be able to offer a varied vacation program for the benefit of the children on the other.
Beneficiaries can apply for this cost sharing for the OGS vacation program as part of the statutory regulations of the education and participation package.
