Pugnaghi is the new CEO of the Bonn Energy Agency

The Bonn Energy Agency (BEA) has a new Chairwoman of the Board: Giulia Pugnaghi was appointed to this position by the Bonn City Council on December 12, 2024 with immediate effect. She succeeds Monika Hallstein, who has been at the helm of the agency together with Managing Director Celia Schütze since 2022.

Dr Giulia Pugnaghi has headed the Climate Neutral Bonn 2035 program office of the Bonn City Administration since November 2024 and in this role coordinates the implementation of the Bonn Climate Plan to achieve climate neutrality in Bonn across the Group. "The Bonn Energy Agency is a central building block for advising the people of Bonn on the upcoming energy and heating transition. This is why the BEA has been strengthened and expanded as part of Bonn's climate plan. In future, we will also be able to go into the neighborhoods with our advice and thus reach and support more people," explains Giulia Pugnaghi.

Monika Hallstein also drew up the Bonn Climate Plan during her time in office at the BEA. This laid the foundations for strengthening the BEA with a significant increase in staff to promote renovation and the use of renewable energies in Bonn. She took over the chairmanship in 2022 from Joachim Helbig, who was instrumental in founding the agency in 2012. The Bonn Energy Agency was founded to support citizens in implementing construction measures for a climate-neutral future. With Giulia Pugnaghi at the helm, the agency will further strengthen its role in Bonn as a central point of contact for energy issues in the building sector.

Bonner Energie Agentur e. V. - The Bonn Energy Agency was established by the City of Bonn in 2011 and became a registered association in 2012.
