The soccer pitch at Mondorfer Bach is used by Bonn SC's first team as a training pitch. However, it is in serious need of renovation and can therefore no longer be played on in certain weather conditions. The pitch is therefore to be renovated as a natural grass pitch.

Changing the location and dimensions of the pitch will also create the opportunity for an additional small pitch, which is to be equipped with an artificial turf surface. This will make it possible to carry out forms of training that would put too much strain on the natural turf.

In connection with the renovation and expansion measures, the ageing floodlight system is also to be replaced with a modern LED floodlight system.

In addition, a synthetic running track - with at least four lanes and a length of 120 meters - is to be installed. It will serve as a warm-up area for regional and national athletics championships to be held at Sportpark Nord. Such a warm-up area outside the stadium area is a prerequisite for national championships. The North Rhine Athletics Association (LVN) intends to compete for the German Youth Athletics Championships at Sportpark Nord.

The design planning and cost calculation are to be presented to the political bodies in 2024. The aim is to complete the project by 2025.

According to a cost forecast, construction costs of around 1.9 million euros are expected. Both the funds for the planning services and the funds to implement the measure are available in the budget of the Sports and Pool Authority.
