The town center of Muffendorf in the Bad Godesberg district is of great historical and design significance and is particularly valuable. It is characterized in a special way by its historically evolved village structure, homogeneous development and a very coherent, historically significant townscape. The topographically shaped village structure with Muffendorf's main street as the urban backbone and the high density of preserved architectural monuments reflect the development of the street village on the Rhine in a particularly vivid way. The center of Muffendorf is appreciated by many people today and should be even better protected in the future.
With the enactment of a monument area statute, all construction measures in the area of application are subject to a reservation of permission in accordance with the Monument Protection Act. The law also provides for temporary protection of the area, i.e. the reservation of permission becomes effective as soon as the public announcement of the decision to establish the area is made. Permission is applied for from the Lower Monument Authority of the City of Bonn. This is intended to ensure that further development of the area is made possible in accordance with its components worthy of protection.
The further procedure with participations
The city administration has commissioned the "STADTGUUT" office to draw up a monument area statute and a design manual for the historic town center. It will now draw up the draft statutes in close consultation with the Lower Monument Authority and the LVR Office for the Preservation of Monuments (LVR-ADR) in the Rhineland and present them to politicians at one of the next meetings. This will be followed by the legally required public participation with the publication of the draft statutes and the associated documents. Information and participation opportunities will be offered during the public consultation.
Council decides, district government approves
Once the public participation process has been completed, the contributions submitted are assessed and incorporated into the draft statutes and the revised version is discussed with the LVR-ADR. After weighing up all the concerns submitted, the draft statutes are presented to the Bonn City Council. Once a resolution has been passed, the statutes must be approved by the Cologne district government.
