Azra Zürn becomes Head of Social Affairs for the City of Bonn

From January 1, 2025, Azra Zürn will head the Department of Schools, Social Affairs and Youth of the City of Bonn. At its meeting on August 29, 2024, the Bonn City Council elected the 39-year-old as an alderwoman for a term of eight years.

Elected: Azra Zürn will head the Department of Schools, Social Affairs and Youth of the City of Bonn from January 1, 2025.

"In Azra Zürn, we have found a competent alderwoman with leadership experience who will support us in strengthening social cohesion in our urban society. I would like to thank the Council for following our appointment proposal," says Mayor Katja Dörner of Bonn.

Azra Zürn on her election: "I am grateful for the trust placed in me and look forward to the new tasks in the most beautiful city in the Rhineland. I hope for a good and trusting cooperation with politicians, within the administration and the numerous partners, institutions, organizations, initiatives and sponsors in the city."

Since April 2022, Azra Zürn, who has a part-time teaching position in social work at a private university, has been Managing Director of EWIBO GmbH, a subsidiary of the city of Bocholt in the field of social services (especially for refugees and homeless people), as well as the management of numerous properties (social housing market). She will begin her duties in Bonn on January 1, 2025.

Around 2,300 employees work in the Department for Children, Youth, Family, Schools, Social Affairs and Housing of the City of Bonn. The Offices for Children and Youth, for Social Affairs and Housing and the Education Office offer people advice and assistance in all areas of life in the areas of daycare facilities, schools, family matters, social support and housing.
