The school center, consisting of the Freiherr-vom-Stein-Realschule and the Tannenbusch-Gymnasium, is getting a new building. This was decided by the council in October 2021. "I am delighted that the planning for the new school center is now taking shape and can move forward. We want to make both the building and the outdoor facilities much more sustainable so that the schools are equipped for the future in the long term," says Mayor Katja Dörner.

As things stand, the SGB will begin construction in mid-2025. Preparatory work will start in advance. As a basis for the design, the City of Bonn, together with external experts, school management, parent and student representatives, representatives of neighboring facilities and neighborhood institutions, had drawn up a so-called program study at the time.

The new building is designed as a cluster school and will meet the special requirements for sustainable construction in many aspects.
