7.12.2016 to 30.4.2017 in the Ernst Moritz Arndt House
It was an exhibition organized by the Stadtmuseum Bonn in cooperation with the Heinrich Heine Institute of the City of Düsseldorf, the Jenisch Haus and the Heine House Association.
Women have always been a muse and a source of irritation for writers. This was also the case for Heinrich Heine. The exhibition focuses on his relationships with women of the 19th century, including friends, enemies, patrons and family women. Their relationships with Heine oscillated between love, admiration, veneration, respect and rejection.
In addition to valuable original manuscripts, exclusive book editions and historical portraits of such diverse personalities as Heine's mother Betty, Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Sisi), the writer George Sand, the salonière Rahel Varnhagen, Fanny Lewald and Germaine de Staël were on display.
