Everyone knows the Hofgarten. The Botanical Gardens at Poppelsdorf Palace and the Rheinaue leisure park are also well known. But Bonn has a number of other green spaces that are ideal for sport, play and relaxation. Here is an overview:

Bad Godesberg City Park
Redoutenpark and Stadtpark Bad Godesberg: the two parks, separated by Kurfürstenallee, together cover eight hectares and form the green center of the former spa town.

Bonn City Garden
Bonn's most important garden ensemble was created in the 18th century: the Court Garden with Poppelsdorf Palace, the Old Customs House, Poppelsdorfer Allee, Botanical Gardens and the City Garden.

Botanical Gardens
The gardens at Poppelsdorf Palace are among the oldest and most traditional north of the Alps. A magnificent garden with orangeries is documented here as early as 1650.

Courtyard garden
The courtyard garden laid out in the mid-18th century was based on French models with topiary, statues, a terrace and a lower broderie par terre lined with lime trees.

Derletal
The Derletal is a valley incision between the two plateaus Hardtbergwald and Brüser Berg/Hardthöhe. With an area of 33 hectares, it is the second largest local recreation area in Bonn.

Dragonstone Park
The two-hectare Drachensteinpark is part of the former park grounds of Villa Drachenstein. Today, it is enthroned separately from its garden space on the other side of Mainzer Straße.

Ernst Moritz Arndt Garden
The neat Ernst Moritz Arndt House, begun in 1819, is the oldest of the early neoclassical Rhine villas. In 1818, the poet acquired two vineyards on a hill directly on the Rhine.

Nursery grove
The baroque ensemble around the Hofgarten and Poppelsdorf Palace is a chamber orchestra of garden art with a special charm. The nursery grove is part of the electoral grounds.
