When building or modernizing a retirement or nursing home, operators or investors should contact the local authority in advance if the project is to be subsidized with public funds (nursing home allowance).
The local authorities provide support and advice on the planned project, particularly on the following points:

• Information on the relevant legal provisions
• Coordination of the planned location and the number of places in the facility
• Coordination of the preliminary designs and care concepts

The local authority also coordinates contact with the Landschaftsverband Rheinland.

Contact is also recommended if no public funding is applied for or if it is a day/short-term care facility or a facility for people with disabilities, so that advice can be provided in accordance with the NRW Housing and Participation Act.
