Anyone who sells a vehicle within Germany is obliged by law to notify the registration office that (last) issued the vehicle with a registration number of the sale without delay. To do this, the seller can, for example, send or fax a copy of the purchase contract. It is important that it is documented in the purchase contract that the vehicle registration document and vehicle registration certificate or registration certificate part I and part II have been handed over to the purchaser. In addition, the full name and address of the acquiring person must be stated. The handover of the documents must be acknowledged by the purchaser.

The purchaser also requires the report on the last general inspection (HU) - if this inspection was already due due to the age of the vehicle.
